Han Tang is a Chinese visual artist and filmmaker based in Berlin. She explores the micro-intricacies of everyday life and nature, using storytelling to examine representation and the interplay between the seen and spoken in various cultural contexts.

Recently, Han has been studying Gastrodia elata, a traditional Chinese herb. At Walden Village, she will also observe the local botany, searching for the history and symbolic meaning of plants.

July 2025  ALEXIA DELRIEU

A sculptor, co-curator of the contemporary art biennial Légendes botaniques in Menthon-Saint-Bernard (Haute-Savoie), author, and bookseller along the Seine, French artist Alexia Delrieu engages in a multifaceted practice that merges ceramics, stone, and wood.

By distorting reality through the blending of genres and materials to transcend the tangible, she brings forth a dreamlike zoology situated between the realms of imagination and reality. Inspired by her literary explorations and the singular beauty of natural elements—such as bark, stones, and tree stumps—her creative universe is populated with chimerical figures reminiscent of medieval illuminators and cathedral sculptors. At the heart of her work lies the notion articulated by the German poet Hölderlin: to "dwell poetically on the earth."

During her residency at Walden Cabin, Alexia seeks to further explore the interplay between collection and imagination. Drawing from sensations, observations, and materials discovered within the forest surrounding the cabin, she aims to create hybrid and poetic works. Her approach aligns with the tradition of nature writing inspired by Thoreau and his followers, while also engaging with contemporary authors such as Lauren Groff, Jean Hegland, Baptiste Morizot, and Laurent Tillon.
